Barretts Computing has vast experience in Structured Cabling, providing properly designed, installed and warranted cabling systems. All systems installed by Barretts Computing Business Solutions are tested to the industry standards and are fully documented. We offer a certification service on our cabling systems which provides a 15-25 year warranty, dependent on the system installed.

We also offer a range of products to complement the structured cabling systems, including cabinets, cable management systems, bend radii compliant containment and active equipment to drive the network.

Optical Fibre

Barretts Computing Business Solutions are specialists in Optical Fibre installation, termination and testing. We can assist you with planning your campus or backbone links. All links installed are terminated to the highest specifications then tested and certified.

Multi-mode optical fiber is used for communication over longer distances, such as within a building or on a campus. The obvious advantage is that optical fiber provides a medium to connect networks that are separated by distances that exceed the copper link distance limitations.

As the cable core is constructed of glass, it is imperative that the correct type of cable is installed dependent on the conditions the cable is being installed in. Barretts Computing Business Solutions have the in-house expertise to correctly specify the type of cable required based on how and where the cable is being installed and the type of application or hardware that is to be used to drive the optical fibre link.

Wireless Networking

Barretts Computing Business Solutions offer a range of products to provide a wireless infrastructure with very little need for cabling. Dependent on your individual requirement, we can supply and install secure and reliable wireless networking infrastructures using either WLAN radio wireless or direct line of site free space optics laser link connections.

• Wireless LAN Radio

  WLAN utilizes spread-spectrum or OFDM modulation technology based on radio waves to enable communication between devices in a limited area, also known as the basic service set. This gives users the mobility to move around within a broad coverage area and still be connected to the network.

  The popularity of wireless LANs is a testament primarily to their convenience, cost efficiency, and ease of integration with other networks and network components. The majority of computers sold to consumers today come pre-equipped with all necessary wireless LAN technology.

• Line of Sight Laser (Free space optics)

  Free space optics systems provide line of sight infra-red, laser communications between two fixed points to distances of up to 4 kilometres, with speeds ranging from 100Mbps to 1Gbps.

  As with radio wireless networks, the links can be setup relatively quickly but FSO provides a more secure solution than linking buildings using radio.

For customers with traditional BT block wiring or CW1308 multi-pair driven sites, we can assist with all your day-to-day business requirements, using our trained telecommunications engineers.
